A beautiful DVD - you should watch this if you care about art, photography, the environment, and the people who live in places in the world most affected by progress and its discontents. A real eye opener. Burtynsky is primarily a phogographer famous for making monumental photographs of landscapes altered by industry: vast oil fields, polluted landscapes, scrapped Leviathans and cityscapes. When I saw it on Amazon I had to buy it to watch again. First saw this on Sky Arts a few years ago. The grand, awe-inspiring beauty of his images is often in tension with the compromised environments they depict.

This is a mind boggling film. The Yeatsian phrase “a terrible beauty” is hardly sufficient to describe it. Many of the goods produced at these factories are shipped to the United States.
