Hays won't be an elite steals guy in the Majors, but getting to 10 is a reasonable expectation, and his speed could put him in the mix to leadoff, which will help him score runs.Where Hays could really make a difference is power. He looks like a ballplayer, whatever the heck that means, but he really does. His sprint speed graded in the 85th percentile in the Majors last season, according to Statcast, and he stole 11 bases across three levels last year. Maikel Franco (Royals saying they fixed issues with his swing, probably a long shot but his power/contact profile makes it worth noting) Combine that with improved plate discipline as he only struck out at a 15.7% clip, and you’ve got a recipe for a breakout. In addition to world-class crab cakes, Baltimore will also be home to outfielder Fantasy managers, however, may want to jump on the Hays train now, as he could help win some fantasy titles long before the Orioles are back to being a playoff contender.Hays has been in the Orioles' system since they drafted him out of Jacksonville University with a third-round pick in the 2016 Draft. It was a small sample rate, but he only posted a 66% contact rate last season. He should be batting near the middle of the Rangers’ order, in prime position to drive in runs.Calhoun goes into the season as the full-time left fielder. Things turned around for Calhoun in 2019 as he hit .269 with 21 home runs in only 83 major league games.Willie Calhoun can flat out hit, making contact in the zone at a 90.8% rate, well above the league average of 84.9%. The sky was the limit. Should he hit leadoff, his value only goes up. He returned to Double-A in '19, but quickly hit his way to Triple-A, where he showed enough to warrant another September callup. His .871 slugging percentage currently leads all players with at least 30 at-bats in both the Grapefruit and Cactus Leagues. The first half of the list includes current MLB players The other side of the list includes players who are still prospects—headlined by Hays, who posted the second-highest ISO of the group. The opportunity is there, now it is time for the talent to shine through.There is also the fact that in the minors, Hays pulled the ball over 50% of the time, offering him another prime chance to take advantage of the bandbox in Baltimore.Hays, like most young hitters, still has room to grow when it comes to being attacked with breaking pitches. Baseball America, the foremost prospect periodical, ranked Hays as the 21st-best prospect in the game heading into the 2018 season. Waiting on some of these players could go a long way in helping you build the rest of your roster, whether you play in a three or five outfielder league. This sleeper is going to return excellent value.
