( Its a compelling story,but the book jumped around too much, was repetitive and I agree with the other reviews that said it was about too many things; part about the house and the oddities that happened there, part about marriage, part about childhood, part about the authors childhood,part about the authors views on life and part favorite quotes. The couple unwittingly moved their five young daughters into the ancient and mysterious farmhouse. The events in the book were fairly creepy, however, this book was so weirdly written that it turned me off to reading it. The screenplay writers for "The Conjuring" must have exceptional talent to create a cohesive movie out of the train wreck that is "House of Darkness, House of Light".

Andrea Perron is a terrible writer. The author would put random words in bold italics; that was distracting. They consider the Perron family saga to be one of the most compelling and significant of a famously ghost-storied career as paranormal researchers. The author, Andrea Perron, describes their experiences, as they try to understand what is happening and learn more about the past owners of the house. If you dare to read further, do so with an open mind. It did not need to be as long, and confusing, with the back and forth in time, and order of events. But I do think that she focused too much on writing EVERYTHING down, and she forgot that this is still a novel and writing style is important. And the story is told by the oldest daughter, Andrea Perron. The strongest of human emotions, capable of altering our perceptions, fear is a force to be reckoned with from birth until death. She seemed to use the book as a vehicle for a public demand for the Warrens to return some drawings that her mother had made, and possibly call them out as frauds. The author obviously had no editor; there were numerous spelling,grammar and syntax errors.
Start by marking “House of Darkness House of Light: The True Story Volume One” as Want to Read: Hardcover She uses unnecessary lexical choices (see what I did there ;) ) where simple words would have sufficed and this greatly detracts not only from the reading experience but also from the pacing in the bookTaking into account the fact that the subject matter is so damn interesting and frankly terrifying it seems almost an impossible task to create a boring book based around it.
